Johanna Konta Announces Retirement

The former British No.1 and Wimbledon semi-finalist Johanna Konta has announced her retirement from tennis.

Konta, 30, enjoyed an excellent career that yielded a quarter-final berth or better at each of the four Grand Slams, four singles titles including the Miami Open and a career-high ranking of world No.4.

For British tennis fans, Konta's most memorable achievement arguably came at The Championships in 2017, when she put together an electrifying run to become the first woman to reach the ladies' singles semi-finals since Virginia Wade in 1978.

"On behalf of everyone at the All England Club, I would like to congratulate Johanna on an outstanding career and wish her all the very best as she begins the next chapter of her life", said All England Club Chairman Ian Hewitt.

"Among her many Wimbledon highlights, we most particularly remember her thrilling win over Simona Halep in the 2017 quarter-finals and the incredible reaction from fans in the UK and all around the world leading up to her semi-final. I hope she looks back on her many accomplishments with great pride and satisfaction.”
