Big numbers

Novak Djokovic versus Serena Williams could be quite the storyline for Wimbledon next summer.

With his victory at this year's Championships, the Serbian put himself level with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on 20 Grand Slam singles titles apiece. But that's just the men. Looking at the leaderboard for both sexes, Djokovic trails Steffi Graf on 22, Williams on 23 and Margaret Court on 24.

The way that Djokovic has been playing this season - he has landed the opening three Slams - it's not inconceivable that he could return to the All England Club in 2022 on 23, so level with Williams and just one short of Court's record.

Roger and out?

Federer, a winner of eight Wimbledon titles, turns 40 next month and can't say for sure whether he will be back in south-west London. Federer's global fanbase will be hoping that he can play again at The Championships, and that his final minutes on Centre Court won't be losing a 6-0 set in this summer's quarter-finals.

Happy birthday Centre Court

To add to the sense of history at the All England Club next summer, Centre Court will be turning 100. Opened in 1922, Centre Court has had a few upgrades over the last century, including the addition of a retractable roof, but every time the modern generation step on to the grass, they feel the connection with the past, with the characters and events of yesteryear.

Barty double?

If winning the Venus Rosewater Dish for the first time is hard, it's even trickier to retain the trophy. Since Steffi Graf in the mid-1990s, only the extraordinary Williams sisters have won consecutive titles. But will Ashleigh Barty, the Australian who achieved a childhood dream, triumph again next summer?

New stars

From first time finalists Matteo Berrettini and Karolina Pliskova to first time semi-finalists Denis Shapovalov, Hubert Hurkacz and Aryna Sabalenka, what can the breakthrough players of this summer's Championships go on to accomplish at next summer's tournament? Emma Raducanu, the teenage British wild card who reached the fourth round for the first time, will also believe she can go even deeper in 2022.
